At Sodankylä (67.4 °N, 26.6 °E) we have performed Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS) measurements since early 2009. The FTS instrument at Sodankylä is participating in the Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON). Here we present 12 years of measurements of column-averaged, dry-air mole fractions of carbon dioxide and methane and comparisons with satellite borne observations. We find good agreement between the Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT) and groundbased FTS measurements. Mean relative difference has been 0.04 ± 0.01 % in case of the carbon dioxide measurements and 0.04 ± 0.02 % in case of the methane comparisons. We have also analyzed AirCore profile measurements near the Sodankylä FTS site in order to provide in situ data comparisons with the remote sensing retrievals. The AirCore measurements are directly related to the World Meteorological Organization in situ trace gas measurement scales. The balloon borne AirCore measurements have been taken from stratosphere down to the surface. In addition, mast and drone borne measurements have been made in the vicinity of the FTS site.
