Ecosystems in the North American Arctic-Boreal Zone (ABZ) experience a diverse set of disturbances associated with wildfire, permafrost dynamics, pests and pathogens, extreme weather events, and human activity. Climate warming in the ABZ is occurring at twice or more the rate of the global average, and as a result the extent, frequency, and severity of these disturbances their interactions are increasing. The ABoVE Multi-Disturbance Working Group is developing a synthesis paper of disturbances in the region. Once of our objectives is to explore interactions and feedbacks among ABZ disturbances. Here we present disturbance matrices showing the drivers of and responses to disturbance in the boreal and tundra regions of the ABZ. Do you have feedback about our disturbance matrices? Let us know at our interactive poster using a post-it note, or email Adrianna Foster at afoster@ucar.edu. If you have a citation in mind to go with your note, please let us know!
